Green Hill and Sally Lee
Green Hill married Sally Lee on August 31, 1799 in Johnston County. There are no records found to date (May 20, 2008) to indicate who this Green Hill is. He could obviously be a brother to Sion Hill who married Starage Lee and it’s possible that Sally Lee and Starage Lee could be sisters. There is no Sally Hill in the 1850 census that matches up with a Green Hill marriage in 1799; that is, there is no Sally Hill born around 1780-1785 in any census record found. It is possible that Sally Hill died and Green Hill remarried to Mary Poxey as is noted in this study. It is possible that the Green Hill who married Sally Lee could be the parents of the John H. Hill noted in the study of the Green Hill of Randolph County. Again, Sally Lee Hill could have died and this Green Hill could have been the same Green Hill in Randolph County who married Martha Ann Scarlet. We simply have no information to make any conclusions.
This Green Hill family is NOT the Green Hill who witnessed the Sion Hill and Starage Lee marriage in Johnston County unless Sion Hill had a brother Green Hill who was of age to be a bondsman; in this case, we don’t know the age of this Green Hill who married Sally Lee. It makes more sense that the older Green Hill would be the bondsman.
